This is a set of cards showing country and nationality. Students try to find their matching partner. A whole class speaking activity.eg) "Woher kommst du?" or " Bist du (Belgier)? Thank you, Sue Pommarede for this resource.
Print out the attached famous couples, laminate and cut up. Hand out the number of mixed up couples that corresponds to the number of your students (+ one for you, if number is uneven). Students have to use German, with greeting/farewell and politeness conventions, to find their partner, moving around the classroom. When that happens, the pair sits on the floor. When all students are seated, they introduce their partners to the whole class: great hilarity!
This powerpoint presentation is introducing popular hobbies following an input, recognition, discrimination and production method developed by Jim Madden. The instructions on how to use this method can be found in the "notes" underneath the slides. Introducing phrases aurally and combining them with images allows for a naturalistic approach to language acquisition, and the activities enable students to remember the new phrases in a playful manner.
Thanks to Florence, Shirley and Jeanne, who allowed me to modify their ideas!
